Hello Fellow Trail Lovers,
Thank you for being a part of the La Cañada Flintridge trails community! Our gratitude and appreciation go out to all Trails Council members, LCF City Council, City staff, and the Parks and Rec Commission. We are all so fortunate to have this beautiful asset in our backyard.
Trail Maintenance
This winter’s storms have impacted our trails. We are working closely with the County of Los Angeles, the City of La Cañada Flintridge along with, the City of Pasadena, and Caltrans to keep our trails open. Thank you for reporting trail maintenance needs. We also appreciate your patience, as some repairs cannot be made until the rain stops. It will take time to get to them all.
With your support, we have completed or are currently working on these improvements:
- Cherry Canyon: Owl Trail downed tree removal; Conservancy Trail storm damage repairs and drainage improvements.
- Gould Canyon Trail: Rerouting trail out of the streambed.
- Flint Canyon Trail near the Berkshire Bridge; ongoing graffiti removal.
- Open Space Trail extension to Angles Crest Highway. It needs repair and rebuilding of some sections.
We also want to acknowledge the generous annual grants from Southern California Edison for trail repairs. Their partnership with the Trails Council is valuable to our trail repair projects.
Sister Cities Friendship Path
The Path dedicated to our Sister City, Villanueva de la Cañada, Spain, is being developed on the Descanso Trail. The start of construction has been delayed because of the storms.
Reminders
All of our trails are multi-use trails. All types of bikes or motors of any kind are prohibited.
Reminder for Dog Walkers
Cherry Canyon is a leash-only zone. This is for the safety of all trail users. Contrary to what some dog owners assume, no collection service for doggie waste bags is left on the trails. We love dogs and appreciate you picking up after them. Please pack out your dog waste bags and dispose of them properly. Pet waste disposal containers can be found at most trailheads.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we transition to the digital world. Enjoy the trails this summer, and again, thank you for all your support!
